National Specially-abled Pets Day paw

Hey there! I just wanted to let everyone know this week Friday, May 3rd is National Specially-abled Pets Day. It is a day embraced by animal lovers all around the world.

Kelsey, our newly added team member to Van Beek Natural Science, told me about her specially-abled pet, Mickey. Mickey had an infection in his back leg at birth.  A veterinarian had to surgically remove his leg to prevent further infection from traveling throughout his body. Amputating his leg had saved Mickey’s life. Kelsey told me how Mickey’s defect did not slow him down a bit. She said he was always energetic and could run exceptionally fast for only having three paws!

Do you think I could beat Mickey in a race?

Certified and Sealed paw

NASC SealAll my people here at Van Beek Natural Science are excited to have once again passed our NASC audit, and with an "A" rating! For over ten years, Van Beek has been a member of the NASC, or National Animal Supplement Council. The NASC is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to improving animal health supplements for horses, cats, and dogs, like me. You can learn more about the NASC by visiting their website.

According to Brett, in order to pass the audit, we have to:

1) Have a Quality Control Manual that shows our products are made safely with high quality ingredients.

2) Make sure our labels correctly line up with all requirements and guidelines.

3) Have evidence and significant research to back up what we claim our products can do.

4) Make sure we have a procedure in place if customers have any problems with our products.

After passing our audit, we are able to proudly display the NASC Seal on our products DiaGel and Synacore and on our product marketing literature. The Seal not only represents accomplishing these requirements. It also visually shows our customers that our products come from a reputable and trusted company.

Look for the NASC Seal on our products...

Wednesday Whiff: LickGuard paw

Whoa, I can definitely tell it is LickGuard Batching Day! LickGuard has that one-of-a-kind smell that you won't forget. In fact, that is why it works so well. Believe me! I've tried it.

If any of my fellow canine or feline friends taste LickGuard, they automatically connect the smell with the bad taste, which they will not want to taste it again. LickGuard is a product that protects against excessive licking, which can cause sores or may be used in replace of those nasty e-collars. My people at Van Beek Natural Science had this video made to explain the product in more detail.

LickGuard

Whew, that's better! The ointment is sealed into tubes.

LickGuard

And it is ready to be boxed up and sent to distributor shelves to be purchased by your veterinarian!

Wednesday Whiff: First Day of Spring paw

Happy First Day of Spring! Although it may not feel like it... Despite the cold weather, tulips are already starting to pop up around Orange City. Orange City is known for its Tulip Festival in May. I took a trip into town with Brett to check them out.

Tulips

Sure enough... their strudy little stems are popping through. Brett says we could use some of those spring rains (instead of the winter snows) sometime soon.

Tulips

But not too early! We don't want the tulips to bloom too far before mid May. If they miss the party, we'll end up with another "Stem Fest" instead of Tulip Festival!

Lilly

Oh look, it's Lilly! Lilly's person is Brett. Looks like she came out to play!

5 Ways to Wear Green paw

It's mid-March and spring is in the air...okay, we'll pretend it is since a hint of snow may be just around the corner. Although the Iowa has not yet donned its lush green landscape, you may want to sport something green this upcoming Sunday to avoid any annoying, sneaky pinches. That's right! It's almost St. Patrick's Day. Dish me up some corned beef and cabbage...well, hold off on the cabbage.

To help avoid that pinch, I've come up with 5 Ways to Wear Green: 1) Collars, 2) Ties, 3) Hats, 4) Vests or Dresses, and, of course...5) I always love "to wear" a little green in my tummy (Treats!)

5 Ways to Wear Green
